Excel has a neat feature where if you type a few characters in a cell and those characters are the first few characters of a word that appeared previously in that column, then Excel will offer that previous word as suggestion and if you hit <tab> it will enter that word in the cell. I do not know what the proper term is for that feature, so I will call it Suggestive Text.

Anyway, I have several sheets in a workbook and whenever I start a new sheet, the Suggestive Text process starts over again for that sheet.

Is there a way to point a column in sheet to a table or another sheet so that the Suggestive Text will be supplied from that table or sheet?

Thanks,
Joe

Unfortunately, there is not. However if you have a list of values you want to use in a column try working w/ the List option in the Validation dialog found under the Data menu. If you are interested in this option I can give you any advice you might need.

Thanks Tagger,

Your solution will not work for me because I need to also be able to make entries which are not in the List. Thanks for pointing out this feature though, I am sure I will be able to use it somewhere.

I ll have to continue to use my hokey solution of putting my seed text in the top rows of the sheet and then hiding those rows.

Thanks,
Joe

That was actually going to be my next suggestion. If you need anything else let me know.
