Problem with Tools Menu

I'm having a problem in Word 2000 SR-1 with repeating Mail Merges in the Tools Menu. I have never used Mail Merge before! A new one seems to appear with each new document I create. My Tools Menu now looks like this:
Tools
Spelling and Grammar...
Language
Word Count...
...
Merge Documents...
Protect Document...
Online Collaboration...
Mail Merge...
Mail Merge... (this is the active Mail Merge)
Mail Merge...
Mail Merge...
Mail Merge...
Mail Merge...
Mail Merge...
...(this repeats about 10 more times)
This problem has occurred twice before and seems to cause problems in Word after accumulating about 25-30 of these Mail Merges. I had Word reinstalled both times and the problem keeps recurring. I'm hoping there is an easy fix??? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks

The latest update for Word 2000 is SR-3. Dowload SR-2 and SR-3 from http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdate/CD010225771033.aspx
