Trouble opening word document

I saved a Word document containing text and graphics on a cdrom and when I try to open it in Word 2002 or Word 2003 I'm told the file is corrupt and can't be opened unless repaired. Word 2000 opens the document with no problem. When I look at the "summary properties" it says that the document was generated with Word 8.0 whatever that is. Any ideas???

Word 8.0 should be Word97 since 2003 is Word 11. The only other possibility is that it was created with a Mac version of Word.

Microsoft has a bunch of converters for Word on its download site. Install that file and see if it helps. Converters allow you to open files created with other versions of Word.
