Macrobutton problem

I used an existing Word template to layout a fax cover sheet. The check boxes are macrobuttons that accept a check or unchecked status.

When I save the new file as a template file (.dot) the check boxes no longer work. When I try to edit the field's Macro name, it just disappears altogether. Any ideas?

Did you save the template as a form?

to enable macros to work the doc needs to be protected

There is no option for that under "Save as". What am I missing?

Under tools - protect document

when done then save as normal
