Option for showing screentips doesn't remain

I am using Word 2002 and Word 2003 in Windows XP Pro and cannot get Word to remember to keep the setting for showing screen tips on tool bars. When I set the
option, it only remains for that session. The next time I start Word, the
setting is back to not showing screen tips on tool bars.

Does something need to be done in a registry?

Are you on a work computer? Are you a super user?

Yes, I am on a work computer with Office loaded on my hard drive and yes, I would consider myself a super user. I have had to change the registry with previous problems.

How are you setting the option? The screentips under Tools, options, View, Screentips isn't about toolbar tips (right-click to get the tip) - it's the reviewer comments.

For toolbars, it's under Tools, customize, options, show screentips on toolbars

Have you tried running a repair?

I tried the Tools, Customize, Options and its still not holding. I have not tried to run a repair - I will try that as my next option. Thanks!
