I have a user running Windows XP, Office 97. When he tries to save a file while logged in under his user account it will only save the file with one character.
For example, if he tries to save the file using the name test it saves it as test.doc. If he tries to save it as username it saves it as u.doc.
This does not happen while logged in as administrator. I renamed normal.dot also gave him full access to the folder containing normal.dot. Same problem.
